Kieran Toye is a tenor saxophone specialist and is focused on promoting new and existing repertoire for his instrument, whilst playing the tenor in the context of ensemble music.
Kieran began his tertiary studies at the University of Western Australia, graduating with his Bachelor of Music (Performance) in 2013. In 2014 Kieran completed his Graduate Diploma of Music (Classical Performance) at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts, whilst studying under Dr. Matthew Styles. During his studies, Kieran has performed in master-classes given by Amy Dickson, Barry Cockroft and Kenny Tsai, as well as having participated in the Asia Pacific Saxophone Academy 2014, and received tuition from Michael Ibrahim, Joshua Hyde, Andy Scott and Asagi Ito.
Kieran also regularly performs with the Western Australian Youth Jazz Orchestra, and has performed with, and attended workshops by jazz artists Fred Wesley, John Morrison, Ernie Fields Jr., Tim Davies and Ed Neumeister.
Kieran is also director of the Perth Saxophone Collective, which performs original repertoire for multiple saxophones, including music by Australian, and particularly Perth based composers. Kieran intends to pursue further study in music and will attend the World Saxophone Congress 2015 in Strasbourg, France.
